May
18, 2019 Trent/Neuse Team Trail Tournament
HOT, HOT, HOT, That’s what the teams all faced on Saturday.
With terrible tides, worse temperatures and an extremely low water level due to
high winds blowing out of the sound the fishing was very tough. Only one 6 fish
limit was weighed in by the eventual winning team of Justin McBrayer and Shawn
Collins of the Furious Hawg Snatchers with a small limit weighing 10.85 pounds.
Second place was taken by local guru’s TopSail Bassmasters own Rich Ludwig and
Pete Peterson, both fishing with the flu, brought 5 fish to the scale along
with the big fish of 2.97 pounds good for $125 and a total 5 fish weight of
10.17 pounds. The 3rd place team of Mike Marion and Robert Griswold
from LuckyStrike Bassmasters had a 5 fish bag of 7.94 good for 198 Team Trail
Points. Eric Hardy and Gene Gray came in with the 2nd big fish of
2.28 pounds good for $55. All in all the Trent Neuse was stingy this Saturday
but we do have to figure in the weather and water levels. The following day
tournament the water had come up over a foot and the temperatures though still
hot were 8 degrees cooler which showed in the fish catches. Congratulations to
all our fishermen, it was tough but like always, fish were caught and thousands
in cash, prizes and merchandise were awarded.
Looking forward to cooler temperatures and better fishing
at both Lake Hickory this June 1st and Sharron Harris later in the
month. Come and join the fun and comradery with the North Carolina Bass
Federation. Check us out at ncbass.org and on Facebook
