Thunder Bolts, Lightening and a Tornado were the last
events of the Friday evening leading up to this event. So, as has been typical
for this year a massive 15-degree temperature drop and high blue bird skies
greeted our fishermen at Oxford boat landing on Saturday. With that said, there
were lots of fish to catch just upgrading was the tough part. Skipping docks
seems to have been the winning pattern with lots of Carolina Rig fish and shaky
head fish to be caught to fill out the limits of everyone. There was a good top
water bite up till 12 but many of those fish were lost according to all reports
from the water. The Carolinian team of Nick Martin and Jeff White won the day
with a limit weighing in at 14.91 and a check for $610 – Congratulations guys.
Finishing in their (3rd) 2nd place of the year was the
Alexis Bassmasters team of Jeff Hager and Dave Combs with a limit weighing in
at 14.83 and catching the 2nd big fish – 3.79, they received $360 +
$60 for their efforts. Congratulations!!! Rounding out the top 3 was the
Carolinian team of Keith Coffman and Larry Halsey and their limit of 12.93 and
the third lace check of $220. The big fish of the day was caught by the Elite
Fishing team from Wilmington, Jeremy Ives and Tremain Newton and their 3.80
pound fish netting them a check for $140.
Three
tournaments in a row with fowl weather and tough fishing conditions are showing
out for the more experienced fishermen so far. The race for Anglers of the Year
is close with just a few more tournaments left to make up for lost ground. The
race is sure to be tight as we have some of the states best teams competing for
all the cash and prizes given away at each event. Mark Lamb and Chris Moss from
LuckyStrike Bassmasters won the Free Entry in this weeks raffle. The next Team
Trail Tournament looks to be a big fish showdown on Sharron Harris Lake in 2
weeks. Come join the fun and take a shot at catching your personal best big
fish on this Hawg Infested Fishery. Looking forward to seeing as many teams as
possible fish. Good Luck and enjoy the rest of the year.
